Historic Profile
During upgrades of older buildings
sometimes there is a need to match existing windows . Prior
to 1970 the only metal windows available were steel.
However until the early sixties galvanising systems were
either very primitive or non-existent. Usually the only
metal protection preparation prior to painting was the
application of a red lead primer. Consequently many of our
historic buildings fitted with steel windows now require
some repair or replacement of the steel framing systems.
Although it is not possible to
hold every combination of steel framing profile Southern
Steel windows do stock two other profiles previously used in
the NZ market which allows us to provide a range of
options when called upon.
